Stress Test - Resilient Attachments rk-1®
We would like to offer you “Analysis of the results of preliminary study” the analyses results conducted by Ankara University Dentistry Faculty Members Prof. Bulent Cumhur ULUDAG and Dr. Emre TOKAR. We also would like to acknowledge and thank them regarding their hard work.
Bar +ball attachment
In bar-ball attachment system, around the apex of the right implant 1.82 N fringe (medium stress) and on the toothless crest part, stress lines equivalent to 1.22N fringe (medium stress) are formed.
Bar +(rk-1) attachment
In bar rk-1 system, around the apex of the right implant 1.39 N fringe (medium stress), around mid-part 1.22N fringe (medium stress) is observed. With the load on the toothless crest part, stress lines equivalent to 1.22N fringe (medium stress) are formed.
Conclusion
In all of the designed models, medium stress levels are observed in crest part of the implant that is subject to the force.
The least amount of stress is formed around the implant in bar attachment model. On the models where ball and rk1 attachments are placed on distal of the bar, in order to improve attachment, medium stress levels are formed on the implant.
In bar-ball attachment system this value is 1.82N fringe, whereas in bar rk-1 attachment system it is 1.39N fringe.
This stress analysis study shows that, rk-1 attachment system that is recently brought up to the market can be used as a viable alternative to ball attachment system in cases where attaching of bar systems wanted to be improved. Studies on evaluation of retentions of the overdenture models that are constructed and their comparisons to stress values will provide further information on this topic.
